Minimum Qualifications G14 - A Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, mathematics, biostatistics, statistics, social or natural sciences, or a related field and one year of post-degree professional research experience in that field. Thirty graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.
G18 - Bachelor's degree in public health, mathematics, statistics, social or natural sciences, or a related field and two years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and one year of such experience in the appropriate field.
G22 - Bachelor's degree in public health, mathematics, statistics, social or natural sciences, or a related field and three years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of such experience in the appropriate field; OR a Doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: This position requires a candidate with a solid background in principles and methods of program evaluation, survey design and analysis, social and behavioral aspects of public health nutrition programs, use of mixed-method approaches in nutrition-related research and evaluation, and demonstrated competencies in teamwork and collaborative research. Experience in the conduct of qualitative and quantitative research studies is essential. Intermediate or better proficiency in SAS, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office, is highly desirable. Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and evidence of excellent analytic, critical thinking and scientific writing skills and experience presenting evaluation results to technical and non-technical audiences will be an advantage.
Duties Description The incumbent will support evaluation and data analysis activities to support the design and implementation of evidence-based nutrition education interventions for the Division’s SNAP-Ed funded initiatives—Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables and Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings. Responsibilities will include activities such as conducting literature reviews and summarizing relevant scientific information, developing logic models, and assisting with survey development and analysis for guiding evaluation studies for the SNAP-Ed funded projects. The incumbent will generate statistical reports to contribute to the annual SNAP-Ed end-of-year reports and will respond to ad hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Occasional travel to locations that may not be served by public transportation may be required. Appointment level will be determined based on the qualifications and skills of the selected candidate.
