Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. If a viable list does not exist a provisional appointment may be made. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.

In order to be considered for provisional appointment:

PROMOTIONAL: you must be a qualified employee of New York and have one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive as an Engineering Geologist, Engineering Materials Analyst, Environmental Engineering Technician 2, Junior Engineer, Senior Drafting Technician (all parenthetic), Senior Engineering Technician, or Senior Engineering Technician (Soils).

OPEN COMPETITIVE:

Either 1. FOUR years of experience assisting in engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying, AND graduation from high school or possession of a diploma issued by a recognized educational authority;

Or 2. a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, landscape architecture, environmental technology, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, or electronics;

Or 3. an associate’s degree in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, landscape architecture, environmental technology, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, or electronics AND TWO years of experience listed above in #1;

Or 4. a certificate in CAD/CAM, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, or electronics** issued by a regionally accredited college or university and TWO years of experience listed above in #1.

** Certificates from Trade or Technical Schools will be accepted only if they are institutions that are regionally accredited or recognized by the NYS Department of Education as following acceptable educational practices.

Duties Description The selected candidate is responsible for completing assignments related to Tort Claims, Small Claims, Accident Damage Recovery program, Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) and Personal Privacy Protection Law(PPPL) requests in the region.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Enter & process reports from data contained in the Regional Claims and Records database systems;
- Assist in the database maintenance, billing and coordination with insurance company representatives, to perform the timely execution of Accident Damage Recovery Program (ADRP);
- Assist in conducting necessary investigations and studies as requested by the Office of the Attorney General and the Division of Legal Affairs;
- Assist with the responses to subpoenas and other record requests in a timely manner and coordinate responses as directed;
- Assist with the region’s compliance with Article 6 of the Public Officers Law, more commonly referred to as the Freedom of Information Law;
- Assist with the small claims administration process.
