Transfer: Candidates must have permanent competitive status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Professional Engineer 1 (Mechanical) performs engineering review on building plans and designs and assists in the development, implementation and oversight of all capital construction activities related to engineering design work for the agency.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and oversee the physical building infrastructure related to engineering compliance for certification of facilities.
• Review of design for heating, ventilating, refrigerating, and conditioning systems, boiler plants and power houses, prepared by private architects and engineers. These systems range from small domestic type installations to large steam heating and hot water systems.
• Manage the environmental compliance programs for petroleum bulk storage, mold and radon remediation, asbestos management related to agency projects and operations.
• Managing the agency installations of NFPA 72 fire alarm systems and NFPA 13 sprinkler system for compliance with NFPA 101 Health Care and Board and Care occupancies.
• Review and approve project design documents prepared by other design professionals for compliance with applicable New York State Building Code and for good design practice.
• Compliance with Executive Order 88 related to Energy Conservation projects and energy data collections regarding the maintenance and construction specification requirements of building systems.
• Provide administrative management oversight of capital construction projects as well as minor maintenance projects. Coordinate project implementation with our agency construction agencies, OGS and DASNY
• Review and approve Construction Permit applications for work performed by the Agency.
• Responsible for occasional work in the New York State Emergency Operation Center in Albany during a natural disaster will be expected, which may include modified working hours as needed.
• The position can require extensive travel throughout the State of New York of up to 50 percent of the work week.
