Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description -Assist with tasks associated with management and monitoring of wildlife of wetland habitats and public lands.
-Assist with coordination of waterfowl banding, invasive species control and a variety of habitat and wildlife survey and monitoring projects.
-Conduct field surveys to document wildlife distribution and abundance (eg. marshbird surveys, deer harvest checking, freshwater turtle studies, deer distance sampling, bat acoustics, and waterfowl related monitoring including: banding, nest box checks, brood surveys & Spring counts).
-Land management work – assist with the seasonal de-watering and re-watering of impounded wetlands, monitor condition of restored wetlands, collection of native seed, grassland restoration planting, habitat restoration projects and control of invasive species (including herbicide control).
-Assist with MOTUS (Automated telemetry system) Wildlife Tracking projects and data collection.
-Obtain, construct, install or maintain field supplies and equipment.
-Conduct WMA asset inventory in support of maintenance and operation.
-Process, enter, and check data. Prepare tabular summaries or reports.
-Participate in public events, festivals, volunteer days & outreach.

-Wetland plant identification
-Familiar with spreadsheet, mapping (GPS/GIS) and data management.
-Experience with invasive plant control
-Experience with boats, canoes, and 4-wheelers.
-Good communication skills
Most surveys will involve early morning and late evening hours.
Most of the work will be outdoors and require outdoor skills and willingness to deal with unpredictable conditions, poison ivy, biting insects, weather, etc.

Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 3/31/20. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
