Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
• Must maintain a 2.0 GPA (C average)
Preferred qualifications:
• Current Graduate student maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better
Duties Description Under the direction of the Financial Analyst within the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) the incumbent will compile reports and oversee spending to ensure compliance with the budget and determine whether changes to funding levels are needed for certain programs. The incumbent will examine past budgets and research economic and financial developments that affect the organization’s income and expenditures.
In addition to providing technical analysis, the incumbent will communicate their recommendations effectively to the financial analyst and officials within the organization.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work with program and project managers to develop and maintain budgets
• Use Excel to aggregate program and project budgets into a consolidated organizational budget
• Develop estimates and track spending by funding source and project
• Review spending requests for merit and accuracy and track spending against specific requests when approved
• Update budgets with data from approved change orders
• Analyze proposed plans and find alternatives if the projected results are unsatisfactory
• Monitor organizational spending to ensure that it is within budget
• Track spending for each program on a resource level using detailed budget spreadsheets
• Inform project managers of the status and availability of funds
• Estimate future financial needs
• Prepare reports on program and project spending
• Work with the IES financial analyst and ITS finance to gather actual spending reports and present them in a concise and organized manner.
• Prepare monthly, annual, and as-needed reports and evaluate budget proposals.
• Analyze data to determine the costs and benefits of various programs and recommend funding levels based on their findings.
Additional Comments Fingerprinting will be required of hired candidate. New or returning ITS employees may be required to pay for their own fingerprinting.
