Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be in title, eligible for transfer, or reachable on the current Civil Service Eligible List. Provisional appointment may be considered. To be eligible for provisional appointment candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for examination and appointment, which are:

Either 1. a bachelor's degree with a concentration or major in Music Therapy;
Or 2. a bachelor's degree in Creative Arts Therapy** with a concentration in music;
Or 3. a bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education AND one year of experience in planning and administering a music therapy program;***
Or 4. certification by the American Music Therapy Association as a Music Therapist.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The person in this position will perform a wide range of duties involved in the provision of therapeutic and rehabilitative recreation, enhancing the individuals physical, mental, and social well-being. They will focus on providing music therapy to individuals across the DDSOO while working with other members of the Recreation Department to provide comprehensive Recreation Therapy services as needed

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver a variety of recreation activities/music therapy to individuals and/or groups, adapting activities to adjust to the needs of individuals in the program areas.
• Documentation and participation in program planning and service planning as assigned.
• Observe and record participation, reaction, behaviorial patterns and progress over the course of recreational programming, reporting changes to relevant staff.
• Assist in the evaluation of recreation and music therapy activities and recommend new activities to address the needs of the individuals and/or groups.
• Attend meetings (departmental or program planning)
• Position will involve travel to program sites, including use of a state vehicle or reimbursed mileage if a vehicle is unavailable)
• Complete other duties as assigned.
