Minimum Qualifications Membership in good standing or eligibility for membership in NY State bar.
Litigation (depositions, trials and/or appellate) experience preferred. Former prosecutorial experience desired. Valid driver’s license.
Duties Description Reports to the Deputy Administrator; conducts investigations of complaints as assigned; interviews witnesses, drafts reports of investigations to Commission; conducts legal research; drafts formal charges of misconduct, memoranda of law, motions, briefs and other legal documents; prepares and conducts trials and drafts briefs for hearing officers and the Commission and appears for oral argument before the Commission. Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills required.
The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct is the independent agency of state government that reviews complaints of misconduct against the 3,500 judges and justices of the State Unified Court System and, where appropriate, renders public
disciplinary determinations.
Additional Comments The Commission will offer a competitive salary dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
