Minimum Qualifications Two years experience in the operation and/or maintenance of an historic site or park; OR two years experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades program.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Park Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, the selected candidate will be involved in every aspect of park maintenance and operations. The park consists of over 1,000 acres, including a golf course, marina, campground, historic site, historic buildings, residences, hiking trails and river view picnic areas. The incumbent will be expected to learn and be proficient in the various POS systems throughout the Park, including but not limited to, ORMS (Reserve America) and foreUp. The incumbent will be responsible for performing and supervising maintenance and operations activities and is expected to act independently and with minimum supervision. The incumbent must be able to perform routine maintenance on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers and power saws; operate self-propelled equipment; load and unload cargo from vehicles and storage and perform building and grounds maintenance and cleaning activities. The incumbent must be able to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical, masonry and mechanical repairs. The selected candidate will also assist in supervising, training and evaluating seasonal maintenance, operational and cleaning personnel. Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting and directing staff and working with patrons to minimize potential problems. During winter months the employee will assist in snow removal, shoveling snow and operate vehicles to plow snow during the day or over-night as required. Assist with pruning, tree trimming and tree removal involving the operation of chain saw, stump grinder, bucket truck and chipper. Assist with traffic control and parking of vehicles. Assist with facility events. Assist in building and repairing roads, paths, historic carriage roads, picnic tables, benches and site equipment. Assist in other areas of site operations as needed.

Previous supervisory experience preferred
Applicants must possess a valid US Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment. Ability to communicate in writing and to read and comprehend written material. Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons. The incumbent must be available to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
