Minimum Qualifications The following should be considered minimum qualifications for the position:
A Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Auditing, Business, Business Administration, Business and Technology, Commerce, Consumer Sciences, Computer Science, Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Information Systems, Information System Engineering, Internal Controls, Mathematics, or Statistical Analysis.
JD or other relevant Master’s Degree preferred.
In addition, a background in compliance/auditing, virtual currency / fintech space, Bank Secrecy Act or Anti-Money Laundering compliance, or accounting is desirable.
Preferred Skills: Research and writing, analytical skills, a team player, communications, and proficiency in MS Office.
Appointment method:
This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class. As such, the incumbent of this position would serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
Duties Description The Department of Financial Services (DFS) is seeking candidates for the position of Virtual Currency Application Analyst (Director Financial Services Programs 3) in the Virtual Currency (VC) Unit to review submissions from companies seeking to engage, and already engaged, in virtual currency business activity. Duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Reviews and monitors submissions by VC entities; documents and recommends relevant actions to management.
• Works with subject matter experts for in-depth compliance and legal reviews.
• Prepares briefing materials for senior executives.
• Engages with outside entities regarding submissions, including applicants, licensees, law firms and consultants.
• Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting materials and making comparative analyses.
• Protects operations by keeping submissions confidential.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and works on ad hoc projects as needed.
Additional Comments Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $3,026 annual downstate adjustment.
Appointment to this position is pending Division of Budget approval to fill.
