Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer: Current NYS Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Public Health Field Services Representative 2 (G23); OR current NYS Department of Health employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Public Health Representative 4 (G23) and eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Provisional: Current NYS Department of Health employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as either a Public Health Field Service Representative 1 (G18) or a Public Health Representative 3 (G18).


Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience supervising one or more professional level staff. One year or more working experience in HIV and STD prevention. Strong Information Technology skills, including use of social media.

Duties Description Direct supervision and coordination of regional HIV/STD field services and surveillance staff; Oversight of regional STD field services in the program coordinator’s absence; Supervision, training and monitoring the work of staff; Completion of administrative reports, monitoring data reports and conducting evaluation activities; Promotion of the program to service and health care providers; Participation in community partnerships to promote HIV/STD prevention; Enhancement of systems for client linkage to medical care and other needed services; Assure HIV surveillance activities are consistent and ongoing region wide; Assist with other regional DOH program functions and participate in special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time. Permanent transfer. Routine travel, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation, is required. Provisional appointee must apply for, and be approved to take, the next Public Health Field Service Representative 2 (G23) examination (currently not scheduled) and be immediately appointable from the resulting eligible list to maintain employment.
