Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Instructional Services (CTE).

Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an eligible list, candidates may be eligible for a temporary provisional appointment. For temporary provisional appointments, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Assistant in Instructional Services (CTE) OR a master’s degree AND New York State permanent or professional K-12 or 7-12 CTE certification AND four years of full-time classroom teaching experience in Health Science Education.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Associate in Instructional Services position (CTE) in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program office. This Office is responsible for middle and secondary-level career and technical education instructional activities, program approvals and monitoring, administration of the Perkins V Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, and civil rights reviews that ensure compliance with federal civil rights laws. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Review and approve applications for NYSED program approval in the Health Science areas;
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to school district/BOCES applicants for health science-related programs;
• Serve as grant liaison to district and BOCES programs;
• Serve as liaison between NYS Department of Health vendor for state Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification testing, and school programs;
• Serve as liaison to the NYS Department of Health regarding curriculum and policy for state approvals to operate Nurse Aide Training Programs and Home Health Aide Training Programs.
• Recruit and train new Registered Nurse (RN) site evaluators;
• Review and approve applications for new programs to operate in New York state, per DOH regulations;
• Maintain data on approved programs and approved licensed personnel in the Home Care Worker Registry;
• Participate in preparation for federal monitoring visits and state audits;
• Review Perkins applications and budgets for quality content and compliance with grant guidelines; and
• Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Regents items, field guidance, and other work products of the CTE Office;

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent or temporary provisional appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree, certification and RN license will be required for each candidate at the time of interview. Some travel is required for this position (5%).

* Leads to a maximum salary of $105,681 based on annual performance advances.
