Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of full time experience in the machinist, electrical or electronic trades under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in the machinist, electrical or electronics trades at a school, institute or branch of the Armed Forces.


Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years of hands-on experience in the installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of all types of dental equipment. Ability to design and fabricate parts utilizing a milling machine, lathe, drill press, etc. Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, plumbing, electronics and compressed air. Familiarity with University purchasing and physical plant work order processes is highly desirable.

Duties Description Position Summary:
The Service and Repair Mechanic (Laboratory) will perform the following duties:
• Assist with overall equipment maintenance of the School of Dental Medicine, including complete repair, parts inventory and preventive maintenance program for all dental equipment, as detailed by the Facilities Planning & Management Associate.
• Assists with testing and evaluation of new types of manufacturers’ dental equipment.
• Performs minor repairs in the areas of plumbing, mechanics, electrical and carpentry.
• Assists Facilities Planning & Management Associate with prioritizing and coordinating all work orders, including those involving University and/or external contractors.
• Maintains training and skills set with current and evolving dental technologies, requiring travel to manufacturer training facilities.
