Minimum Qualifications Either 1. a bachelor’s or higher level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in programming languages AND three years of experience in computer systems programming;
Or 2. a bachelor’s or higher level degree in any field AND four years of experience in computer systems programming;
Or 3. an associate’s degree* with 15 semester credit hours in programming languages AND five years of experience in computer systems programming;
Or 4. six years of experience in computer systems programming.
*Candidates who have completed at least 60 college semester hours in a bachelor’s degree program, including at least 15 semester credit hours in a computer science field, also qualify, but must meet the experience requirements as described in #3.
Duties Description Under the direction of a Project Assistant, the Information Technology Specialist 4 Systems Programming will be responsible for managing legacy COBOL systems within the Integrated Eligibility System (IES).
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Review production systems to understand major technical components and relate them to business areas;
• Use Cobol to analyze routines, procedures, TIP screens, ECL, batch jobs and FTPs which make up discrete parts of the systems;
• Analyze RDMS and DMS database structures, data dictionaries and source code for discrepancies or inaccuracies;
• Document system specifications and solutions to facilitate knowledge transfer;
• Monitor and perform error diagnostic/debugging activities on the mainframe;
• Coordinate project activities among other team members, users, and/or requestors;
• Act in advocacy role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all relevant phases of the IES Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC);
• Work closely with Architects and others on the applications development team to refine solution design;
• Report status of current tasks and outstanding issues to supervisor;
• Provide guidance and mentoring;
