Duties Description NYSDOT is a leading-edge team of motivated, empowered, and respected professionals whose customers value our high-quality engineering and technical services and products. Each NYSDOT employee plays an important part in fulfilling the Department’s mission and goals, as we are one DOT working cohesively to ensure the state has a safe, efficient, balanced and environmentally sound transportation system.

Duties will vary from position to position, based on the assignment, but they all have a common goal – to enhance public safety. Student Assistants may work in one of a variety of program areas under the direct supervision of a NYSDOT Professional Engineer, Senior Landscape Architect, Senior Land Surveyor, or Environmental Specialist. Based on the assignment, interns will perform duties such as GIS, engineering, research, policy and planning, surveying, administration, environmental science, landscape architecture, etc. to achieve the mission of the agency.

Internships are full time (37.5 hours per week), Monday through Friday. Daily schedule dependent on the position. Hourly rate is $17.50/hour.
