Minimum Qualifications The Managing Attorney’s Office (MAO) at the New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Assistant Managing Clerk (AMC) to oversee a team of five clerical staff and their work product. The AMC position will be located in New York City and will report directly to the Managing Attorney.
The Managing Attorney’s Office (MAO) is primarily responsible for accepting service of papers on the Attorney General’s Office (OAG) and coordinating papers to be filed with the State and Federal Courts within the metropolitan area. Additionally, the MAO provides guidance to OAG staff on the State and Federal Rules of the courts.

Duties Description The AMC’s duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
• Supervising the MAO’s team of five clerical staff and overseeing their work product;
• Managing the daily operations of the MAO;
• Learning the OAG’s case management system and providing user training and support to employees;
• Overseeing and performing data entry into the computerized docket system;
• Responsible for learning and demonstrating a knowledge of court rules and procedures in several jurisdictions, as well as monitoring and maintaining MAO resources on court rules and procedures;
• Assisting the Managing Attorney with communicating docketing policies and procedures to OAG attorneys and legal support staff;
• Developing and maintaining an internal timetable for handling and clearing the docket system;
• Providing general and/or specialized docket reports as requested; and
• Interacting with the public who appear to serve documents on the OAG.
Suitable candidates must possess the following qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree with 3 to 7 years of relevant law firm or government work experience is required;
• Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred;
• Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal court rules, procedures and requirements;
• Team and customer focused with excellent communication, organizational, problem solving, presentation and teamwork skills;
• Highly developed technological and data management skills, including knowledge of and experience using calendar management software, MA3000 and the MS Office Suite;
• Readily interpret and assimilate instructions and new information presented either in written or oral form;
• Discrete with sound judgement and the ability to adhere to the OAG’s confidentiality standards; and the
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
