Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent -permanent competitive service as a Hospital Nursing Services Consultant G-22 OR Community Nursing Services Consultant Home Health Services, G-22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: License and current NYS registration as a Professional Nurse AND five (5) years of post- licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Three (3) years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care in a licensed health care facility, and two (2) years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator. Preferred Qualifications: Must be highly motivated, possess excellent written, communication, interpersonal, critical thinking and organizational skills.
Duties Description The Hospital Nursing Services Consultant may participate in conducting or participating in investigations or on-site surveys of health care settings to determine their level of compliance with federal and state regulations; monitor program grants; participate in general assessment, planning, development, and implementation of health care programs; serving as a nursing expert; testifying as an expert witness in litigation proceedings; interpreting policies, rules, regulations; and representing the Department at meetings and public forums. You may participate as part of a survey team and may be responsible for the facilitation of team operations and may participate in activities related to COVID-19.
Additional Comments Permanent, Full-Time. This position requires significant travel which may include locations not served by public transportation. Maintaining licensure and registration is a condition of continued employment.
