Minimum Qualifications The Temporary Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred Qualifications: two years of experience in agriculture, natural resource management, regional planning, economic development, manufacturing or food service fields that include business or program management, domestic or international marketing, conducting research, event planning or coordination, or developing or implementing strategies.
Duties Description Standard Duties:
The Economic Development Program Specialist 1 Agriculture applies agricultural business knowledge, training, and experience to provide agricultural economic development services to develop, promote, and market New York State (NYS) agricultural products and commodities. Incumbents deliver and administer programs and projects that provide technical assistance, business support services, economic development, and marketing and promotion guidance to individuals, companies and organizations in the food and agricultural industry.
Specific Duties:
This program specialist will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration of the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.
The incumbent will assist in preparing documents to participating farmers’ and markets; participating in farmers’ market and farm inspections; managing the approval process, maintaining databases and files, performing outreach and contacting applicants.
