Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
You will be required to pass a Civil Service language examination to demonstrate your proficiency in Spanish at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.
A high school diploma or GED AND two years of full-time work experience, one year of which must be in customer service* OR
Three years full-time work experience, one of which must be in customer service.
Work experience must include typing/keyboarding experience.
*For the purposes of this employment, customer service is being defined as interacting with the general public where your primary responsibility is effectively communicating verbally to explain programs/services, policies, or procedures or resolve customer issues and/or problems.
Qualifying Experience may include call center agent, receptionist, data entry clerk, customer service representative, sales representative providing information, bank officer, or telemarketer.

Duties Description Standard Duties:
As a Senior Employment Security Clerk Spanish Language in the Unemployment Insurance Division, your duties would include any of the following: communication with claimants, employers, and Department staff to resolve discrepancies and answer questions; entering, updating and retrieving information from systems for processing unemployment insurance benefits; processing employer and benefit documents, including those involved in the hearing process; reviewing ledgers and making computations to credit charges; processing employer registration forms and addressing employer rate inquiries; examining NYS-45 returns for any discrepancies and determining employer liability; reviewing and preparing documents for high speed scanning; and other clerical duties as needed.
