Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Director of Capital Services, the Senior Architect performs architectural review on building plans and designs and assists in the development, implementation, and oversight of all capital construction activities related to architectural design work for the Agency.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing the Agency’s ongoing program of fire safety upgrades to residential buildings for compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code - Healthcare and Board and Care occupancies.
• Manage environmental compliance for the Agency including asbestos and mold projects.
• Review and approve project design documents prepared by other design professionals for compliance with applicable building codes and for good design practice.
• Review and develop project specifications, provide technical assistance to maintenance supervisory staff regarding the maintenance and construction specification requirements of building systems.
• Serve as a Certified Code Enforcement Official (CCEO) for the Agency. Training will be required if the applicant is not already a NYS CCEO and provided by the Agency through the NYS Department of State’s basic codes training classes.
• Provide administrative management oversight of capital construction projects.
• Review Construction Permit applications and issue permits for work performed by the Agency.
• Responsible for occasional work in the New York State Emergency Operation Center (EOC) in Albany during a natural disaster or other declared state of emergency will be expected, which may include modified working hours as needed.
• The position will support our regional Capital Services operations in the Western NY area. It will require travel, up to fifty percent of the work week, as necessary to support our code enforcement, inspection, maintenance, design and construction operations in and around the region. Periodic travel can be required to our Central Office in Albany, NY at the discretion of the Director of Capital Services.
