Minimum Qualifications Title: Temporary MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
Location: Roof Shop
Salary: $14 -$20 per hour
Grade: SG-9
Hours: Monday through Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm
Duration: Approx. 3 Months
Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Valid NYS Drivers License required.
*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.
Duties Description Ability to assist with prepping roofs and decks for new roofing, requiring heavy lifting; Set up roofers with materials; Keep job site safe and clean of debris daily; assist with removing roofing debris from decks; cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment daily, daily runs to the shops for materials and supplies; keeping tools organized; Ability to cut out caulk joints, tape and caulk concrete joints. Maintain truck cleanliness. Ability to install Liquid Membrane to all roofing seams, and install term bar to the edges. Valid NYS Driver’s License Required.
