Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher* and three years of professional experience* as described below;
OR
• an associate degree and five years of professional experience**
OR
• seven years of professional work experience**.

**The professional experience must have been where your duties involved work as an educator and/or business professional utilizing the following skills:

• Public speaking or experience in developing and delivering presentations.
• Experience mentoring others (formally or informally).
• Experience working with special populations (i.e. people with disabilities, at-risk youth, etc.).
• Technology skills, especially with PowerPoint and remote video conferencing platforms.

*Degree must be awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Involvement with experiential learning, curriculum development and creating and implementing workforce training programs
• Experience engaging with industry leaders and researching workforce trends
• Highly organized, proven analytical skills and track record in creative problem solving
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to plan, prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment, especially under tight deadlines
• Knowledge of workforce development programs
• A passion for learning new things and teaching others
• Experience analyzing and assessing workforce skills and assisting others to help meet current and future workforce needs.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to identify, create and develop relationships with key stakeholders.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner or designee the Project Coordinator will:

• form partnerships between the New York State Department of Labor and industry leaders, education professionals and training providers to ensure our workforce is prepared for the jobs of today and tomorrow;
• provide information on real-time industry trends and helping to articulate realistic pathways for business leaders, students and working professionals – highlighting the value of life-long learning, up-skilling and re-skilling;
• engage business and education professionals, monitor workforce trends and help to align training programs around new and emerging industries;
• help lead and organize large- and small-scale events, create and deliver presentations and publicly represent the Department of Labor as a thought leader.

Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or out-stationed assignments.
