Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree* and six years of project management experience with at least one year at supervisory level AND Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent Project Management credential/education.
OR
Bachelor’s degree* and four years’ project management experience, at least one year at supervisory level AND Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent Project Management credential/education.
OR
Eight years of project management experience with at least one year at supervisory level AND Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent PM credential/education.
Substitutions: J.D.* or Master’s degree* may substitute for one year of project management experience; Ph.D.* may substitute for two years of project management experience.
*Degree must be awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four years of experience managing Information Technology projects for the public sector/government.
• Seven years of experience as a project manager (activities include: tracking project deliverables, maintaining project budgets, managing procurements, maintaining vendor relationships, managing stakeholder relationships, tracking and resolving project risks and issues using the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) project management methodology).
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner and Associate Commissioner the Project Coordinator will project manage the implementation (creation and integration) of a large-scale virtual career center system while working closely with agency leads. The Project Coordinator’s duties will include but are not limited to:
• Facilitate successful completion of IT projects by working across project team boundaries in a matrix environment to secure resources, resolve issues, and set project timeline and milestones;
• Manage project using a Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) based project management methodology containing well-defined and documented processes, templates, and guidelines for all project phases;
• Prepare and manage Project Management Plan including but not limited to: scope statement, schedule, budget, quality plan, risks, issues and communication plan, etc.;
• Prepare and deliver executive-level documents including presentations, proposals and training materials;
• Track Project performance to ensure goals are being met;
• Identify and facilitate communications with stakeholder groups;
• Utilize formal project change process and communicate all changes with all stakeholders;
• Communication of project status and updates at all levels of organization, with internal stakeholders, project team and executive staff;
• Develop and manage project budget, ensuring no cost overruns;
• Coordinate with agency executives, project team members, portfolio staff and other stakeholders;
• Identify and mitigate project risks; escalate and resolve issues impacting project success;
• Provide weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly status updates to executives within DOL and ITS;
• Provide regular updates using project management tool;
• Develop transition plan(s) and execute those plans to ensure orderly transition to agency including proper mentoring and training as needed to ensure successful transition;
• Provide identification and maintenance of critical path and contingencies;
• Provide resource allocation estimating and reporting.
