Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent
competitive service as a Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, G22, or Community Nursing Services Consultant
Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualifications listed below.
Open-Competitive: Currently licensed and registered as a Professional Nurse in NYS; AND a minimum of five years of post- licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Three years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care in a licensed health care facility, and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator. Must have strong interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making and time management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the ideal Candidate must have excellent writing and editing skills and be able to effectively interpret laws and regulations governing adult care and assisted living facilities in New York State.
Duties Description The incumbent will be responsible for conducting annual inspections and complaint investigations of Adult Care Facilities (ACF) including those associated with an Assisted Living Program (ALP). The incumbent will also provide assistance with the review of the clinical components of licensure/certification applications.
Additional Comments Permanent, Full-Time. This position involves significant long distance and overnight travel to locations not served by public transportation. Maintaining licensure and registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) is a condition of continued employment. In addition to passing the NYS examination for this title, candidates are also required to be certified through an appropriate federal testing process.
