Minimum Qualifications G18 – Bachelor's degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related field and two years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and one year of such experience in the appropriate field.
G22 - Bachelor's degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related field and three years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of such experience in the appropriate field; OR a Doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences or a related field. Background and experience in STI and/or HIV research, evaluation, or surveillance. Experience working with large confidential datasets and/or protected health information (PHI); experience with grant reporting; strong data management and analysis experience, at least two years of experience with SAS; experience with data visualization; experience with mapping software (such as MapInfo or ArcGIS) is a plus; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to work independently, communicate effectively; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience public speaking and research dissemination experience in local, state, and national settings.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Surveillance Coordinator (Research Scientist 3) in the Office of Sexual Health and Epidemiology (OSHE), the incumbent will assume primary responsibility for the data management and evaluation of the state’s gonorrhea morbidity. The individual will utilize data from clinics and laboratories responsible for reporting gonorrhea test results as well as other data sources as identified, perform quality control of the reported data, and use statistical software to conduct site-specific and aggregate analysis for purposes of program evaluation and research. The incumbent will also participate in the development, implementation and analysis of research projects utilizing gonorrhea testing and/or treatment data.
Additional Comments Contingent-permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Routine travel, including occasional overnight travel and travel to areas which may not be served by public transportation, is required. (~20%)
