Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have progressively increasing responsible professional work experience in the administration and operation of health programs. The preferred candidate will have strong writing, communication, data collection and analytical skills; and experience with developing and implementing program policies, and contract management.
Duties Description The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referrals and a variety of nutritious foods to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum women, infants and children up to age five to promote and support good health. The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will be located in the Program Communication and Collaboration Section (PCCS). The PCCS is responsible for managing communication and training for local agencies focusing on participant-centered services; policy oversight/development in diverse areas including, but not limited to, certification-eligibility criteria, Civil Rights, Language Access, Voter Registration and the implementation of these requirements in the Management Information System (NYWIC); breastfeeding promotion, support and collaboration, including the peer counseling program; development of statewide enrollment and retention strategies for WIC eligible participants; coordination and completion of overall program priorities and objectives as outlined in the annual NYS WIC State Plan.
The HPA will primarily assist with implementing enrollment and retention strategies, including assessing and monitoring program participation and associated reports; implementing workplan activities; participating in stakeholder meetings and providing technical assistance to state and local agency staff; contract management activities; and program analysis and evaluation. The HPA will also interpret federal regulation to develop program policies, procedures, workplans, training materials and technical assistance documents in various program areas. This position will work with PCCS staff to assist with program communication activities including but not limited to preparing written and verbal communications, providing technical support for statewide webinars for contractors, and coordinating WIC Program Manual updates and the annual State Plan submission to USDA. The HPA will also participate in WIC management information system (NYWIC) user acceptance testing, and work to resolve NYWIC Help Desk tickets as assigned.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time. Occasional travel to locations that may not be served by public transportation is required. Traineeships are non-statutory, resulting in salary G18 upon completion
