Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be either a qualified employees of New York State with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation), or be in a title that is eligible for 70.1 transfer. OR,
For General Public
Candidate must take the Civil Service exam for this title and obtain a reachable score on the resulting eligible list in order to be appointed permanently.
Qualifications to take continuous recruitment exam:
Either 1. a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current NYS registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below;
Or 2. a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below.
Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.
Qualifying experience: One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.
**Preferred qualifications**
Have at least 3 years bridge experience in design, construction, inspection, or other bridge related work. Proficient in micro station, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Duties Description The candidate will serve as the Team Leader and QC Engineer as well as supervise an Assistant Team Leader. Individual will be responsible for the inspection program for Bridges, Culverts, Retaining Walls, Toll Gantries, High Mast Lighting, and Sign Structures with assistance/coordination from consultant forces.
