Duties Description The Center for Environmental Health applies scientific, medical, & public health expertise to identify, understand and prevent risks to human health in NYS’s living and working environments. In addition, the Medical Director works with staff from the various research and surveillance programs to design and execute studies related to worker exposures, assessment of human exposures to environmental contaminants, and use program data to evaluate outcomes and adjust program goals. In addition, there are several programs that the Medical Director will play a critical role in, including: providing guidance for the treatment of lead poisoned children; conducting clinical case reviews for the Congenital Malformations Registry; providing medical oversight for the Occupational Health Clinic Network; leading illness outbreak investigations; and working to strengthen communications with medical providers on environmental health issues.
