Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in providing assistance, direction or support to improve, protect, and preserve the rights of workers and/or immigrants, or assisting clients in understanding and participating in public or private programs. The experience must include involvement in public education, communications, or community outreach activities.

NOTE: A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience and a law degree may substitute for two years of experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Spanish language proficiency in speaking, reading and writing.
• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

As a Project Coordinator within the Division of Immigrant Policies and Affairs, the incumbent will:

• Prepare reports and memoranda outlining immigrant needs and concerns, describing the department’s outreach activities, and analyzing and evaluating outcomes.
• Assess the department’s current provision of services to immigrant workers and suggest modifications for improvement of service.
• Establish and maintain relationships with immigrant workers and community organizations.
• Conduct field outreach to target immigrant populations and assist in the development of workshops and written materials to increase awareness of their rights under state labor law and the services provided by the agency.
• Ascertain the needs of immigrant populations and refer them to appropriate agency staff.
• Provide support to the state’s Foreign Labor Certification Unit in processing H-2A and H-2B job orders for New York State employers seeking foreign guest workers.
