Salary RangeFrom $15.59 to $15.59 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications Two years (60 semester credit hours) of college coursework which must include twenty-four credit hours in a combination of courses in Entomology, Agronomy,Ecology, Biology, and Statistics, of which twelve credit hours must have been directly related to Entomology.
Duties Description As an entomological assistant, you will be responsible for the prescreening and identification of insect samples and the curation of an insect reference collection. Under the supervision of the entomologist, you will respond to public diagnostic requests, perform site visits, assist with statewide insect trapping surveys, participate in scientific studies and public outreach activities. You would also assist with regular lab maintenance, including record-keeping, inventory, cleaning, and lab organization. Field work occurs statewide and being able to drive long distances is essential. Occasional overnight travel is required.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overnight travel may be required.
This position is funded through 3/31/22 with a possibility of continuing after that date. Actual work schedule and hours may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
