Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Duties Description This position will be working on angler access sites across DEC Region 6 and trout stream related surveys. The primary duty of the position will involve inventorying and documenting access site maintenance needs and inspecting and posting angler information signs at angler access locations and boat launches. Additional duties include assisting with trout stream electrofishing surveys and working on a late season trout creel survey. Scheduled work times may vary, some weekend work may be needed. Technicians work 40 hours per week. Technicians must effectively interact and communicate with the public as needed. Must work effectively both independently and as a team member.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Some night work may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 11/30/2021. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
