Duties will vary from position to position, based on the assignment, but they all have a common goal – to enhance public safety.
Student Assistants will work under the direct supervision of a program manager, Professional Engineer, Senior Landscape Architect, Senior Land Surveyor, Environmental Specialist, or a Maintenance Supervisor 1 Motor Equipment. Based on the assignment, interns will perform duties such as GIS, engineering, research, policy and planning, surveying, administration, environmental science, landscape architecture, learn NYSDOT Fleet operations including analytic support, agency parts operation, and what it takes to maintain and repair the Fleet to achieve the mission of the agency.
