Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years* of professional level work experience, five (5) of which must have included managerial, decision-making, and/or oversight responsibilities for a major health-related program or in the direction of a major administrative function of a large health-related organization. *MD or PhD may substitute for two (2) years of the general experience. JD or Master's degree may substitute for one (1) year of the general experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Track record of strong analytical and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and confidential environment under tight deadlines is essential; experience in a managerial role, interacting with state and federal government officials is preferred.
Duties Description The Deputy Director, Office of Public Health, provides administrative, fiscal and operations leadership and oversight of the Center for Community Health, the Center for Environmental Health, the AIDS Institute, the Wadsworth Center for Laboratories and Research, the Office of Public Health Practice, and the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness, including fiscal and operations management for 3,000 staff and over $1 billion in state and federal funding. Major functions of these Centers include providing direct health services; regulating and inspecting public venues, public water supplies, laboratories and other settings; funding and evaluating local health department health delivery and planning activities; identifying health issues which pose risk to New Yorkers and developing, funding and operationalizing programs to ameliorate risks.
Additional Comments Exempt, full-time. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Occasional travel, including to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required (20%).
Salary commensurate with experience.
