Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years professional investment experience, of which five (5) years must include institutional Private Equity and Private Debt fund investment management experience with an investment management organization, pension consulting firm or plan sponsor including:
• Experience in analyzing, evaluating, monitoring and recommending actions for primary fund Private Equity and Private Debt investments
• Experience conducting research and due diligence for primary fund Private Equity and Private Debt investment opportunities
Substitutions:
A Master’s in Business Administration or a closely related field of study substitutes for one (1) year of general work experience.
Holding a Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation substitutes for one (1) year of general work experience.
Duties Description The Manager of Private Equity-International is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
• Leads and coordinates all international deal sourcing, investment recommendations, and presentations to the Board
• Assists in overseeing the performance monitoring and reporting for the Private Equity and Private Debt portfolios for portfolio management purposes, including presentations to the Board
• Oversees and develops the team responsible for managing the Private Equity and Private Debt portfolios
• Manages relationships with general partners in which we invest
• Serves as NYSTRS’ representative on Private Equity and Private Debt advisory boards
• Assists in the development and implementation of policy, strategy, procedures and associated operations
• Executes a rigorous evaluation process to ensure selection of best Private Equity and Private Debt managers for the System’s portfolio
• Coordinates due diligence efforts between staff and outside consultant
• Coordinates legal due diligence of Private Equity and Private Debt investments with Legal Department and outside counsel
• Assists in managing relationships with outside vendors
• Evaluates and recommends modifications to investment strategy and sub-asset classes within Private Equity and Private Debt
• Attends conferences and meetings to stay abreast of industry trends and to establish business relationships
• Active involvement in the Private Equity and Private Debt LP community in order to stay current with industry trends and performance
• Performs such duties assigned by the Managing Director of Private Equity
• Supervision and professional development of staff
• Approximately 30% travel is required
