Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be on the Information Technology Specialist 2 eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description · Research new security techniques and methodologies.
· Provide security assistance to CIO units in evaluating security controls and provide secure solutions.
· Research and respond to security related questions.
· Research and respond to security exception requests.
· Respond to Service Desk requests.
· Assist with monthly compliance reviews.
· Assist with Statewide Financial System (SFS) security needs, as required.
· Assist with meetings on various security related topics (attending, organizing, taking notes, and assessing security control strength).
· Research security related items for all agency projects.
· Assist with audit remediation efforts.
· Assist with the development, updating, and implementation of OSC’s security awareness program to educate stakeholders, business units, and the CIO on the value and the requirements of information security.
· Provide training to business units to classify information assets.
· Write security articles on security related issues that are important to OSC.
· Provide support and content for the security awareness program on the ISO website, as required.
· Research security best practices for articles to include in the ISO website.
· Ensure participation in and completion of OSC’s security awareness training course and ensure completion is documented for auditing purposes.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· College coursework in Security (5 to 9 credit hours).
· College coursework in Computer Networking (2 to 4 credit hours).
· College coursework in Operating Systems (2 to 4 credit hours).
· Work experience installing and configuring server software (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience diagnosing and resolving server hardware/software problems (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience diagnosing and resolving network problems (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience providing first-line diagnosis/trouble-shooting of computer problems relating to operating systems, software packages, database connectivity, basic hardware issues, network issues, or security/password problems (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Work experience repairing software, hardware or peripheral equipment (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Knowledge of security principals, including the areas of information security or information assurance.
· Knowledge in any of the following security areas: NIST Special Publications, FedRAMP Program, CIS Critical Security Controls, Security Policies, Access Controls (Data Protection), Vulnerability Assessment and Remediation, Encryption, or Malware Defenses.
· Experience in researching and gathering security business requirements.
· Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
· Knowledge of assessing risk.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
· Strong customer service skills.
· Ability to work in teams and lead teams, as necessary.
