Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be on the Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description · Develop and/or support scanning applications using IBM Datacap.
· Develop and/or support custom FileNet P8 browser-based image viewer applications using Java, JavaScript, and HTML.
· Develop and/or support web services to facilitate interaction between FileNet P8 and other systems.
· Develop and/or support bulk load processes for FileNet P8.
· Generate code for review by a team supervisor or manager.
· Work with business unit staff to develop comprehensive test plans.
· Coordinate unit/system/acceptance testing with business unit staff.
· Communicate status of assigned projects/tasks to immediate supervisor, including possible delays and potential problem areas, in a timely and accurate manner.
· Create, update, and maintain system documentation.
· Work with business units to gather system/application requirements.
· Analyze requirements to develop detailed design specifications for review and approval by the business unit staff.
· Ensure business user requirements are met in the development of any applications.
· Ensure that functional and technical designs can integrate with existing systems and are developed according to standards.
· Investigate and troubleshoot production issues.
· Utilize ServiceNow software to manage service requests, change requests, and incidents.
· Provide on-call/off-hours support for testing, upgrades, and as needed.
· Apprise management and other stakeholders of deviations from originally agreed upon priorities, deadlines, or scope in a timely manner.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Experience developing the logic of a computer program based on design specifications (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience performing program maintenance (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience debugging/resolving program problems, including troubleshooting application software for user/system problem resolution (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience writing programming instructions (code) in an object-oriented language (such as Java) (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience consulting with users to ascertain required project scopes, business requirements and deliverables for computerized systems and document those systems (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience preparing functional specifications that define the system being proposed to meet business requirements (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience with design (3 months to less than 1 year) including, but not limited to:
- Preparing design specifications to define proposed systems.
- Creating program specifications.
- Prototyping.
· Experience with project management support (3 months to less than 1 year) including, but not limited to:
- Utilizing project scheduling and control techniques such as PERT.
- Organizing projects using management by objectives techniques.
· Developing test plans (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Developing test conditions and validating testing (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience with technical writing (3 months to less than 1 year) including, but not limited to:
- Developing user reference manuals or documentation.
- Developing program documentation or operator instructions.
· Experience using JavaScript (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience using Java (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Experience using HTML/XHTML/DHTML (3 months to less than 1 year).
· Ability to interact with both technical and business staff.
· Ability to participate in all phases of the system development life cycle.
· Ability to take ownership of a task and usher it through completion.
· Ability to be proactive and address incoming tasks that you have the knowledge to perform.
· Ability to effectively work in a demanding environment with multiple priorities and customers.
· Ability to evaluate written materials, and to perform analysis and design.
