Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a carpentry trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Duties Description Performs journey level work in the primary trade of carpentry and performs skilled and semi-skilled levels of work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry, in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Daily supervision of other permanent and seasonal staff will be required along with training of such staff.
Carpentry duties will include project planning, lay out procedures, blueprint reading, purchasing and overall coordination of assigned projects.
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment including dump trucks, aerial trucks, loaders and similar construction equipment.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
Must possess a valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B* or obtain one within the probationary period at their own expense and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
Must have a working knowledge of the safe operation of hand and stationary shop tools.
Must have the ability to operate a variety of driven machinery.
Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
Must be available to work a variable schedule, including weekends as needed.
*Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The candidate is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
