Minimum Qualifications Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*.

*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.

Duties Description Ability to perform semi-skilled, routine, repetitive maintenance, installation and repair activities in the University dormitories, lift 50 pounds, properly use hand and power tools, repair sinks, toilets and showers including unplugging drains, minor electrical repairs to outlets, switches, lights and ballasts; experience with the repair of doors, locks, windows and floor tile; experience working on building system’s electric and plumbing components, carrying ladders and materials and navigate stairs throughout work shift; ability to work in areas of heat and cold (indoors and outdoors); ability to work from ladders, scaffolds and lifts, work at heights 20’+ and in confined spaces; ability to work overtime as required for emergencies and campus events; ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system; ability to wear a negative pressure respirator and pass a fit test; Valid NYS Driver’s License required
