Minimum Qualifications Experience:

Four (4) years of responsible management, administrative or supervisory experience in the health services field including one (1) year as manager of one or more of the following areas functioning in support of clinical or treatment services: budget, fiscal, human resource management, affirmative action, information systems management, or support services in a general hospital, community mental health center, health care facility or a facility or agency providing services to people diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities or mental retardation.

AND

Education:

A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational standards in hospital, health care, public or business administration or a related field.

OR

Experience:

Six (6) years of the experience described above including two (2) years as a manager as described above.

AND

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational standards.

The ideal candidate will have:
• Demonstrated experience in managing federal grants (i.e., National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation); and private and industry grants and contracts, including pre and post grant award experience as either a department administrator in a research setting or as a member of a sponsored programs office.
• Knowledge of compliance issues impacting research.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations governing research.
• Expertise in budget preparation.

Duties Description The Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Administration (DDPC 1 – Administration) serves as an essential member of the facility’s Executive Management Team. Under the general direction of the Director, Psychiatric Research Institute and in close collaboration with the Deputy Director, Psychiatric Research Institute, the DDPC 1 - Administration is responsible for the day-to-day development and direction of administrative management and support services for NKI, including human resources, information technology, budget and fiscal services, animal facility, physical plant and grounds, environmental services, grant sponsored programs, compliance, and safety and security. The DDPC 1 – Administration also provides administrative oversight to the OMH Consolidated Clinical Laboratory. The DDPC 1 - Administration assists the Director, Psychiatric Research Institute and provides administrative leadership; implements facility policies; interprets policy guidelines and monitors the effectiveness of these policies, ensuring all standards for Administrative Services are met and services are completely integrated with NKI’s research and clinical programs; and develops and maintains relationships between NKI and academic affiliates.

Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Administration (DDPC 1 – Administration). NKI is a state-operated research facility located on the grounds of Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, New York, approximately 20 miles north of New York City. NKI has earned a national and international reputation for its landmark contributions in psychiatric research, especially in areas of psychopharmacological treatments for schizophrenia and major mood disorders, dementia research, clinical trials methodology, neuroimaging, therapeutic drug monitoring, and the application of computer technology to mental health services. Since 1952, interdisciplinary teams of distinguished Research Scientists have applied their expertise to study the causes, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of severe and persistent mental illnesses. Background and Investigative Fees:
