Salary RangeFrom $37507 to $46103 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Two years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, or recreational facility; OR two years’ experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades school course.

Duties Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of higher-level personnel, the Park Worker 3 may be engaged in the performance or coordination of, but not limited to, the following tasks and activities as described:
1. Supervises, trains, schedules and deploys work crews consisting of seasonal employees in the performance of the duties and responsibilities mentioned below.
2. Performs general area maintenance including but not limited to litter control, refuse removal, grounds upkeep, landscaping, snow and ice control, restroom facility cleanliness and other tasks and/or activities as described.
3. Operates light trucks, passenger vehicles, tractors and heavy equipment such as payloaders, backhoes, frontend loaders, dump trucks and garbage trucks, loads and packs as required.
4. Assists skilled trades in carrying out maintenance and repairs to electrical systems, plumbing and heating and ventilating systems, masonry, carpentry etc.
5. Answers patron inquiries concerning park activities and resolves patron complaints in the field.
6. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on various equipment used; these duties may include oil changes, cutting blade changes, tightening or changing belts, fueling or mixing fuel according to machinery specifications etc.
7. May operate industrial wheeled tractors and low center of gravity tractors which may be equipped with, but not limited to the following interchangeable attachments:
• 80” rotary or 7-gang-pull mowers
• Augers
• York rake, surf rake, etc.
• hammerknife
8. investigates incidents or unusual occurrences and completes necessary reports.
9. Operates chain saw; will complete first aid and CPR training
10. Loads, moves, carries or unloads material of varying weights and sizes as required in the performance of the duties described.
11. Submits recommendations to supervisor for tools and/or materials needed in the performance of duties and prepares purchase requisitions and receiving tickets for these items
12. Conducts inspections of assigned area for safety hazards, correct problems where possible and makes requests for appropriate skilled trades assistance when needed.
13. Operates park’s base radio and switchboard systems
14. Performs revenue-related activities such as cashiering and conducting audits, including the auditing of concessionaires in terms of availability of menu items, price, cleanliness etc.
15. Applies fertilizers to turf areas as instructed
16. Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS
Selected candidate must possess and maintain a New York State Motor Vehicle Operators License by date of appointment and will be required to obtain a class B CDL within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment
***Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation and Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
Employee will be required to carry a state issued cellphone while at work
Ability to operate and skill in the use and maintenance of small lawn/garden equipment and small hand tools
Ability to do simple math such as add, subtract, multiply and divide
Ability to read and understand written and/or verbal material and instructions
Ability to lift, carry and move equipment and/or materials of different weights and sizes
The candidate may be expected to work weekends and various shifts, holidays and special events to provide effective operational coverage
