Salary RangeFrom $56604 to $71980 Annually
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates who possess the following minimum qualifications may apply:
1. Bachelor’s degree in an art or design field such as art, drawing, painting, illustration, digital design, or interactive media and two years of experience
OR
2. Associate degree in the same fields and four years of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Employees who possess the following are encouraged to apply:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field with a minimum of three years of graphic design experience required, OR at least five years’ experience.
2. In-depth knowledge of graphic design, video editing, web development and other applications and industry best practices.
3. Must be able to multitask, work well under pressure and adjust to changing deadlines/priorities.
4. Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
5. Knowledge of HTML, CSS a plus.
Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
1) Serve as lead designer on NYS Higher Education Services Corporation's (HESC) design projects with particular emphasis on projects with high visibility.
2) Manage, coordinate, design, layout and create print and digital materials, including but not limited to, publications, reports, presentations, factsheets, newsletters, websites, marketing and event materials.
3) Design visualizations for infographics, exterior and interior art, and programming of data tools.
4) Develop original design concepts and execute from inception to execution; and modify existing HESC communication materials as needed.
5) Collaborate with communication and publication specialists on ideas and special projects and work with Executive staff and HESC managers.
6) Design and present mock-ups of designs for both print and web.
7) Review work to verify the precision and accuracy of artwork prior to distribution and ensure adherence to all NYS branding guidelines.
8) Proofread material containing copy and graphics and material produced by staff within the Communications Division or other areas of the agency.
9) Lead and complete special projects as requested by executive management and provide creative support for other HESC business units.
10) Research creative design trends to ensure that materials are in-line with current trends.
11) Take photographs and other images to be used in multiple media; set up lighting and capture images appropriate to HESC’s targeted audience.
12) Oversee procurement of supplies, software, equipment and other services needed; draft requests for proposals and assist in evaluating bids for creative products and services.
13) Review agency publications and make design adjustments to improve readability and better convey messages to HESC’s target audience.
14) Maintain a library of artifacts (e.g., photos, logos, illustrations, etc.) and ensure efficient storage and access for easy retrieval by staff.
15) Determine priorities and manage workflow to ensure production requirements and deadlines are met.
16) Complete other projects, as assigned.
