Minimum Qualifications
CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Licensing Services Clerk; OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 6 or above AND eligible for transfer under Section 70.1* of the Civil Service Law.
*Successful completion of a one-year traineeship leads to an appointment to a Licensing Services Clerk, SG-9.

Duties Description • Exam and process various applications, including renewals, permits and license applications.
• Review applications to determine authenticity, acceptability, and accuracy of documents; determine if the documents meet the requirements of applicable laws and department policy and procedures.
• Documents to be reviewed include, but are not limited to contracts of sale, leases, financials, diagrams, personal data forms and criminal records. Research of SLA legacy systems for applicant and premises history with the Authority will be required.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication.
• Answer questions from the public on the requirements of various license types.
• Send written communications to applicants explaining deficiencies within the application.
• Write reports clearly and concisely based on the facts of an application is a must.
• Research, read, and interpret various ABC laws, rules, regulations, and policies governing the licensing process.
• Assist with various additional tasks which include, but are not limited to data entry, scanning, license/permit issuance, and occasional face to face contact with the public.
Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
