Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered
professional nurse in New York State and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing
Preferred Qualification: Long-term care experience
Duties Description Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
The incumbent serving as the NA1 per-diem will be primarily assigned to performing oversight of orientation and training to new hires within the nursing department as well as ongoing education for current staff. The incumbent will ensure appropriate orientation of new staff; inform staff of and ensure the implementation of changes to policy, procedures, and trends in nursing practice(s) within the facility. They will evaluate the effectiveness of in-service education and guidance programs; identify staff development needs, and develop, present, and arrange for training on clinical nursing related topics. The incumbent may interview nursing candidates and participate in other recruitment and hiring processes. They will also maintain established standards of nursing care in accordance with Federal, State and accreditation agency requirements; participate in the management and administration of nursing services; may perform any of the duties of a Nurse 2 and cover staff assignments if necessary.
