Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience performing paraprofessional duties assisting in the conduct of investigations * OR Two years of paraprofessional experience in a health or human service agency at the state or local level, such as community relations or outreach representative activities, related to health or human services provided to minority or low income populations.

* Strictly clerical duties such as typing, filing, record keeping, and/or reception will not be considered qualifying experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Two-year degree or credit hour equivalent in Criminal Justice or a related field. One year of responsible experience in conducting field investigations, interviewing witnesses and writing of detailed narrative reports. Ability to work with computer and learn new programs. Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills. The ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments to make the most effective use of time and resources. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access software and Outlook. Experience in field investigations and a background in criminal justice.

Duties Description The Compliance Assistant conducts undercover investigations of retail grocers suspected of defrauding nutritional programs. Duties include collecting, processing, maintaining the integrity of and ensuring the proper disposal of evidence, writing investigative reports. The Compliance Assistant will also confer with Department of Health counsel on hearing case preparation and provides testimony at administrative hearings. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Extensive travel in the Metropolitan New York regional area (New York City, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties) and to other regions of New York State as required. The appointee must demonstrate capacity to meet the transportation needs involved in carrying out responsibilities which will include travel to areas not served by public transportation. Candidates considered for this position will be required to possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter. $3,026 downstate adjustment
