An individual meeting or exceeding minimum qualifications with professional experience that includes the use of inductively coupled plasma (ICP) mass spectrometry (MS) in the analysis of natural products for organic and inorganic composition. Experience in handling Controlled Substance (CS) Inventory.
Duties Description Under the direct supervision of a Research Scientist 4, will provide technical/scientific support to the Medical Marijuana Laboratory (MML). They will perform quantitative analysis for organic/ inorganic compounds and trace contaminants in a variety of different sample types. These analyses may be for the determination of trace contaminants in medical marijuana products that are distributed throughout the state as authorized under the New York State Compassionate Care Act. The incumbent will be responsible for the analyses of metals in Medical Marijuana products, communicating with outside Registered Organizations (ROs) prior to sample accessioning, assisting in the coordination of inventories, as well as assisting in research projects and other duties as assigned.
Additional Comments Permanent, non-competitive, full-time. Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position, candidates who accept appointment may be required to wear personal protective equipment, undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluation, and receive specific immunizations. In addition, dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent re-assignment, background checks may also be required.
