Minimum Qualifications "Provisional Promotion*: NYS DOH employee with one year or more permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status in an Assistant Architect AND you must possess a New York State Architect’s license and current registration at the time of appointment
Public Candidates*: You must have a New York State Professional Architect's License and current registration. You must provide information regarding your license and current registration upon interview and on your examination application.
Permanent Transfer Candidates*: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Architect, G-24. You must have a New York State Professional Architect's License and current registration. You must provide information regarding your license and current registration on your examination application.
*Important: Travel may be required. Appointees to these positions are required to have a driver's license valid in New York State to operate a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. "
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Architecture strongly preferred, plus two years relevant post-license experience. Must be licensed and registered in NYS as a Registered Architect. Must possess a valid driver's license, NYS Code Enforcement Official certification, experience in health care design, including but not limited to Hospitals, Outpatient Facilities, Nursing Homes and Mental Health.
Duties Description The Senior Architect reviews the project development during the pre-design and design phases of the project, including meeting with clients and consultants and providing assistance. May perform periodic site visits as required to projects under construction and review technical issues that could affect life safety and programmatic issues. Review highly technical designs, plans, and specifications, as well as highly technical architectural/engineering reports and studies. Provide technical assistance and recommendations to unit staff, NYSDOH staff including field staff and client representatives. The incumbent will perform independent, in-depth investigations of specific problems including architectural/engineering analysis and provide recommendations. Consult with regulatory agencies regarding interpretations and applications. Monitor the services provided by professional consultants and meet to review and assist them in their submissions. Prepare reports for management and clients and assist in the development, compilation and distribution of technical data. Remain current with all local, state and federal rules and regulations. Assists and manages the policies and procedures regarding the Lean process for efficacy and quality in the day to day operations within and outside thefficae bureau. The incumbent may also, assist Management in the development of policies and regulations, develop, document and implement policies and procedures; assess, develop and implement internal controls, and oversee the review and testing of same. Undertake special assignments as directed.
Additional Comments Continued employment as a Senior Architect is dependent upon maintaining a New York State Professional Architect’s license and current registration.
