Minimum Qualifications NYS Employees:
Current Office of General Services employee with permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Construction Estimator 2 (Mechanical) and interested in reassignment; OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Construction Estimator 2 (Mechanical).

Candidates who are currently 55b/c eligible AND meet the qualifications listed below are encouraged to apply for this position. If you qualify using this method you are required to provide us with your current letter of eligibility from Civil Service along with your resume and a copy of your transcript or degree.
Minimum Qualifications for 55b/c Appointment:
Either 1. six years of experience in estimating cost of mechanical or electrical construction, mechanical or electrical design and/or mechanical or electrical drafting. One year must have included experience in cost preparation and/or cost review of mechanical or electrical components of building projects;
Or 2. an associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, construction technology, construction management, or building sciences AND four years of experience in estimating cost of mechanical or electrical construction, mechanical or electrical design and/or mechanical or electrical drafting. One year must have included experience in cost preparation and/or cost review of mechanical or electrical components of building projects;
Or 3. a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, construction technology, construction management, or building sciences AND two years of experience in estimating cost of mechanical or electrical construction, mechanical or electrical design and/or mechanical or electrical drafting. One year must have included experience in cost preparation and/or cost review of mechanical or electrical components of building projects.

Duties Description Duties will include, but may not be limited to:

• Prepare and review detailed cost estimates of the quantity and price of labor, materials, and equipment involved in new building construction, site development and the rehabilitation projects for statewide facilities,
• Estimate, verify, and compare costs of construction and alternative building systems,
• Prepare and review change order work and emergency projects,
• May be required to review and supervise the preparation of cost estimates for consultant work.
• Manage and coordinate capital construction projects for client agencies from inception through completion.
