Minimum Qualifications "Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree and two years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.
Substitution: master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of the experience."
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience performing routine inorganic laboratory analyses in a regulatory environment. Experience with quality assurance (QA) documentation pertinent to inorganic analyses, and the on-going upkeep of documentation in preparation for external audits from regulatory bodies. Two years of hands-on experience with inorganic instrumental analysis techniques, specifically ion chromatography, ICP-MS, or ICP-MS/MS for environmental, food, or clinical samples. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot inorganic analytical instrumentation. Ability to work independently as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills, including assisting in the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and/or conference presentations.
Duties Description "The incumbent in this position is responsible for support activities within the Laboratory of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry. Specific duties include performing analyses for inorganic contaminants using EPA approved methods, including disinfectant byproducts and other contaminants using ion chromatography, ICP-MS, and other methodologies. This employee will also ensure that all analyses are performed according to the prescribed methods and that the analyses are completed and reported in a timely manner, prepare documentation, revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary, perform routine laboratory procedures such as maintaining instruments and laboratory readiness, and may participate in research projects appropriate for Wadsworth’s public health priorities as assigned by the supervisor.
