Minimum Qualifications "Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service as a Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, G22, or Community Nuring Services Consultant Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the open competitve minimum qualifications listed below.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in NYS; AND a minimum of five years of post-licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Three years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care in a licensed health care facility, and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator. Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience in a community/home health setting with experience in administration of a federal or state health related certified program. Must have strong skills interpreting federal and state policies, rules and regulation, and excellent writing and editing skills. Must have a strong knowledge of databases and be computer literate. Experience in home care is preferred, but not a must.
Duties Description The Hospital Nursing Services Consultant (HNSC) in the Western Regional Office will participate in a range of activities associated with Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) that serve patients in the Assisted Living Program (ALP). The incumbent will participate in a range of surveillance activities which will include, but are not limited to, the review and approval of required policies and procedures, conducting surveys, interpret policies, rules, and regulations, and responses to inquiries from regional offices as well as the public related to ALP LHCSAs, and areas in home care. The incumbent will also perform quality assurance reviews of complaint investigations of home care agencies and enforcements as needed
Additional Comments May have occasional overnight travel to areas not covered by public transportation. Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the New York State Education Department must be maintained for continued employment in title.
