Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping or in a business operation.* At least 6 month of such experience must be at the supervisory level. Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
*Experience in a business operation must include responsibilities dealing with the public, customer service and daily financial reporting and processing.
Duties Description Conservation Recreation Facility Supervisor 1s (CRFS's) are responsible for the entire operation of a small facility including subordinate staff (i.e. Park and Rec Aides, Lifeguards, and Conservation Security Workers). The CRFS will conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner as the face of the agency for visitors to our recreation facilities providing customer service that will enhance the public’s stay. CRFS's must read the campground manual for safe operation of the facility. Must be willing to work undefined hours, ensuring continued operation of your park, with a limited, if any, assigned amount of overtime. Will be required to work all weekends and holidays through the summer, unless otherwise excused. Must be willing and able to respond to emergencies at the facility regardless of the time factor, day/night. Required to work through Labor Day weekend, as term of employment.
This position is unique to campground operation and requires you to be well groomed, wear appropriate attire or assigned uniform, including work boots. NO sneakers. The CRFS will also work in the Campground Recycling and Garbage Center handling and processing garbage as mandated by New York State, County and Local Landfill policies, along with handling and processing recyclables and deposit returnable containers. Will also operate mowers both riding and push, leaf blowers. Manual labor (such as lifting garbage cans and bags chest height, using rakes and shovels and cleaning toilets) is required. All Injuries and illnesses are to be reported to your immediate supervisor immediately and all reports filled out. Must refrain from using State equipment such as vehicles, mechanical tools, telephone, internet and any other assigned tools for anything other than official state business.
Additional Comments These are temporary positions with a duration of 4/29/22 through 10/31/22. Actual duties, work hours, and schedule will be discussed at interview. Position available at one or more of the facilities in the Indian Lake working circle area for the 2022 camping season. Program needs will determine the actual end date of the position.
Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must reside in State Housing.
