Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Preferred:
• Good public relations and communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and helpfully on the telephone, in person and in writing.
• Basic computer skills--Training will be provided to use specialized programs.
• Familiarity with hunting and requirements to qualify for hunting licenses, and knowledge of outdoor activities including shooting sports.

Duties Description Provide critical support and assistance to the Regional Hunter Education Program Coordinator and the 300+ regional volunteer Instructors to provide required classes to Hunter Education students.

Specific Job Duties may include:
• Answering phone, e-mail and in-person inquiries for Hunter Education Classes and lost certificate replacement from the public.
• Administering to the needs of instructors for info, supplies, equipment.
• Delivery of supplies to instructors when required (possibly involving evening and weekends, travel).
• Keeping track of loaned equipment inventory.
• Misc. administrative record keeping such as filing.
• Registering classes from instructors into database, including e-mail and correspondence with Albany.
• Entering applicant, instructor information into database, and updating as needed.
• Assisting with preparation and management of annual refresher meetings, instructor training, (incl. photocopying, large mailings, apprentice registrations).
• Assisting with holding meetings and training at various locations across region (involving evening and weekends).
• Assist with annual Youth Pheasant Hunt (weekend).
• Assist with instructor recognition banquet (evening/weekend).
• Assisting with general Wildlife Management activities as needed; deer checking, wildlife surveys, answering inquiries from the public, etc.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 3/31/2022. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
